Surgery Education & Clinical Competence Committees (SEC3)

Together, the Surgery Education & Clinical Competence Committees (SEC3) are responsible for setting goals, objectives, and policies pertaining to the General Surgery Residency Program. The Surgery Education Committee consists of approximately 30 faculty members and 12 residents. One or two residents from each training level are selected to join the committee each month and represent their class at SEC3 meetings. This provides an open channel of communication between residents, program directors and faculty members.

The Clinical Competence Committee consists of approximately 30 faculty members and is responsible for conducting regular performance evaluations for the residents of the General Surgery Residency Training Program. In general, the Clinical Competence Committee meets just prior to the Surgery Education Committee.
